The Ecoed approach to education & design focuses on balancing old ways & new, of living a good life, healthily & charitably caringly, peaceably cooperatively, justly & harmoniously sustainably.
The Ecoed approach has been designed from the outset to help meld elements of education and design in enhancing eco-sustainable development along optimally healthily sound, euharmonically sustainable lines.
In relatively simple, straightforward practical terms, the Ecoed approach is all about remaining open to learning from practical real life experience, how to live healthily, happily & harmoniously eco-sustainably; little by little, more & more kindly caringly, charitably & constructively cooperatively…
Then going about doing so optimally, by way of education & design. The Ecoed approach helps to remind us to think ecologically and act conscsientiously in terms which contribute to operating optimally.
It has been designed along lines of learning experientially… Ecobiologically, crossculturally & operationally, from successful ways of living relatively healthily & peaceably euharmonically sustainably, in the many different ecosystems inhabited by Humankind globally.
Its focus is on the ecosystems, communities & organisms and the corresponding ecobiology, cultures & occupations that form the basis for our economies, cooperative cultures and operational organizations.
Its emphasis is on learning how to operate optimally cooperatively and eco-sustainably… In doing so, it emphasizes balancing considerations of ecology, economy & epidemiology, with co-ecumenical concerns for caring & charity, as well as practical considerations for organizational and operational optimization.
In our world of often conflicting ideas, ways & values, such a balance is not always an easy thing to realise successfully & harmoniously.
Nevertheless, the Ecoed approach & corresponding paradigm helps us to do so epistemologically, conceptually & operationally with a particular emphasis on optimization, both educationally & developmentally.
As the founding author & designer of the Ecoed approach to education & design outlined in this website, I have attempted to develop it quietly along lines that are reliably sound. The approach has been designed to help in building healthily and more & more euharmonically eco-sustainably on what has been shown to work well, ethically empirically, co-ecumenically complementarily and cooperatively operationally optimally, across the bounds of culture, denomination and academic & occupational disciplinary lines..
Part of the beauty in the approach lies in that it can be applied as simply or as sophisticatedly as our economic enterprises, cultural communities and/or occupational organizations require, in order for healthy living to be optimized conscientiously… And it can be applied both religiously & secularly, respecting the Dynamics of Life in the Biosphere that is part of our Legacy of Life on our home planet Earth.
It is this concept of Earth as our home, that gave rise to the eco mnemonic. This mnemonic refers to ecosystem, community & organism in dynamic equilibrium, and provides a continuing focus ongoingly.
In designing the Ecoed approach along lines which respect the Universal Moral Principles of kindly, caring affinity of the Golden Rule, and its corollary Green & Golden Mean of Healthy Moderation & Peaceable Euharmony, it has been enabled to be used cross-culturally & inter-denominationally.
The Golden Rule has long been recognized quietly as the Golden Standard of neighbourly charitably caring, peaceably convivial plural societies the world over. This is no mere accident: It is the one reasonably sure way to ensure that a balance of mutual respect, peaceable mutuality, justice & ethical reciprocity is honoured & kept consensually, without untoward imposition of either religious or secular ideology.
Its precepts of kindly, charitably caring, mutual affinity & altruistic reciprocity, come to be complemented operationally, by way of its corollary Green & Golden Mean of Healthy Moderation & Peaceable Euharmony. In order to be effectual, they must be actualized in both ethical religious and empirical secular terms, not countermanded or effectively silenced by way of the ideologies of one or the other, of the former or latter.
That was certainly my hope in designing the Ecoed approach originally and developing it ongoingly, with the Golden Rule and its corollary Green & Golden Mean kept in mind.
With Love recognized ever more widely as the Key to doing so in healthiness, peace & loving harmony…
Hopefully. we may come to find that in doing our best quietly, to learn to live a Good Life, conscientiously and kindly caringly, both religiously & secularly, we will discover synergies, which encourage us in doing so, more & more euharmonically eco-sustainably.
Hopefully enhancing eco-sustainability and eco-sustainably euharmonic development may afford us a useful bridge between religious & secular approaches to teaching of ideality & optimal practicality in doing so…
